Guiseley hoped for more in Hanson verdict

Guiseley are pleased the dispute over James Hanson’s fee has finally been resolved, though admit they had hoped for more compensation.

An FA tribunal decided that neighbours City had to pay the non-league club a four-figure sum – thought to be around £7,500.

Guiseley will also receive the proceeds of a high-profile pre-season friendly between the clubs, plus a 25 per-cent sell-on clause if Hanson joins another club.

A statement on Guiseley’s website read: “Whilst that is not all that Guiseley had hoped for in compensation for developing James into the player that he is proving to be at Bradford City, it is, non the less, an improvement on Bradford City’s final offer and all in all a fair comp-romise to amicably resolve the situation.”

Meanwhile, the Lions may have exited the FA Trophy in midweek but their fixture nightmare goes on.

Guiseley should have played one of their many UniBond Premier Division games in hand on Tuesday but yet another call-off last weekend put paid to that.

Their FA Trophy tie at home to Tamworth was put back to last Tuesday due to a frozen pitch and meant they could not play Bradford Park Avenue in the West Riding County Cup.

That tie – rearranged for Monday – takes precedence over league games so it means Tuesday’s scheduled home match against Whitby Town has been put back a week.

I thought Bradford offered £7.5k as their final offer?
This story reeked of Guisely being overly greedy from Day 1, with Hanson, who was an unproven even in the Northern Premier League (yes he scored goals for Eccleshill)...what made them think they deserved the kind of money they were reportedly asking for? (£50k?)
Lets hope big Jimmy is fit this weekend and can add an aerial presence to our frontline!

Not only scored for Eccy he was Guiseleys top scorer for the last 2 seasons, like he is ours.
I for 1 think he is worth more but business is business in the end.
I would have bought him for £7500
then loaned to city to pay his wages.
Hes fit for Sat and shud go straight in along side Boulding or Thorne.
4-4-2 formation 2 down the middle.
