Guiseley 1, Worksop Town 2
A comeback of epic proportions saw Worksop steal three points from their UniBond League Premier Division clash with Guiseley at Nethermoor.
The Lions had taken a deserved lead midway through the second half and looked on course for a regulation home victory at 1-0 up with 90 minutes on the clock.
But Worksop had other ideas and snatched themselves a win with a last-gasp double.
Guiseley had begun their long list of goal attempts in the first minute when a Harpal Singh cross just eluded Lee Askham.
Former Leeds United player and Bantams loanee Singh was very influential in the half. The winger provided two more chances and also went close himself with two left-foot strikes.
Lee Tuck, Craig Bentham and Anthony Lloyd also threatened the under-pressure visitors’ goal.
Tuck went close to breaking the deadlock twice early in the second half before Lions boss Steve Kittrick decided to make changes, replacing a tiring Singh with Steve Burton.
Just ten minutes later Burton lashed a shot high into the net to put Guiseley in front and they really should have added to that. Instead they were made to pay the highest price of all for not doing so.
Worksop’s Matt Glass equalised in the last minute with a well-struck shot. Then just over a minute into stoppage time the visitors were awarded a free-kick and, as it was floated in, Tom Jones got his head to it to steer in a dramatic winner.
