Views wanted on Ilkley street facilities

A civic watchdog is urging Ilkley people to show some pride in their town centre by coming up with proposals to clear up one of the main shopping streets.

Ilkley Civic Society is focusing on Brook Street in its Street Pride Project, held to coincide with national Civic Societies Month.

The society, which keeps an eye on building developments, heritage and character of the town, is highlighting issues of street pride.

The body wants to know what people think of the town centre, particularly Brook Street. The society has set up a display board in Ilkley library asking for views about street and road signs, lamp posts, bins and other features of the street.

A society spokesman said: “There are many areas where the image of the street could be improved, such as road signs, pavements and parking.”
