A Church is hoping a shy suitor might ‘pop the question’ during Sunday service on Valentine’s Day.
St James the Great, on Galloway Lane, Pudsey, is inviting friends and neighbours to renew their vows during the service at 9.30am and invitations have also been sent to those recently married in the church. Parish priest Father Nicholas Clews said: “There is no specific part of the service where proposals of marriage are invited but we are hoping that perhaps the event might prompt some couples to deepen their commitment through the sacrament of marriage. Many couples have a deep sense of belonging to each other, and to their children, without being married. As Christians, we want to encourage them to express that commitment in public.”
The service will be followed by Bucks Fizz and cakes and biscuits.
