Man tried to grab girl

A man who tried to drag a schoolgirl into his car is being hunted by detectives.

The man pulled up his silver Mercedes behind the 15-year-old girl as she walked in Carlisle Road, Pudsey, and tried to strike up a conversation as he drove alongside her.

He then got out, opened the passenger door and blocked her path. He grabbed the teenager and pulled her towards the car, causing her to lose her balance as she struggled.

The man let go of her and drove off towards Fartown after he became aware of pedestrians on the street.

Just before the incident the same man had smiled and wolf-whistled at the girl from his car as she crossed Church Lane towards Carlisle Road.

The incident happened at 9.15pm on Thursday, May 22.

Any pedestrians who witnessed it, or have any information, are asked to contact PC James Sayers on 0845 6060606.

The suspect is described as possibly Asian, in his 30s, 5ft 9-10ins tall, slightly chubby, with dark shaven hair and stubble. He was wearing a dark zip-up top over a light shirt, dark jeans and plain dark shoes.
